Helping you live beyond pain, trauma, anxiety or depression | ||
![]() I've been an active psychologist for more than a quarter century. I work with people suffering from past or recent trauma, dealing with persistent pain or coping with anxiety or depression. I use a variety of techniques, but primarily mindfulness-based therapies concerned with full and immediate awareness of one's thoughts, actions or motivations. In treatment, my clients are asked to learn to “just be with” their undesired experiences without judgement or attempts to control. At the center of this “just noticing” is both a mindfulness and an acceptance. Once you can learn to be with your undesired sensations, then you are freed to take action consistent with your values.
Persistent Pain Perhaps you have ongoing pain. If so, you know the suffering it causes, the way it disturbs your sleep, affects your ability to do even simple things, changes your relationships with those you love and causes you to put your life on hold. I understand the devastation pain can cause. And, I know that for many there is no medical cure – they will continue to have pain for a long time. Anxiety, Sadness, Coping with physical injuryRecent Trauma Many people who experience a horrifying event find that they just can’t get over it. They may be haunted by nightmares or vivid recollections of the event. They may find they feel estranged or detached. This may be accompanied by trouble sleeping or concentrating. And, no matter what they do, they find they can’t avoid thoughts, feelings or reminders of the event. If this is you or someone you love, there is help. Together we can help piece your life back together. Contact Dr. Feehan:
