Background

Dr. Duma is a Registered Psychologist. She received her Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto (Ontario Institute in Studies in Education) in 1992, and her Masters in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria in 1986.
Her clinical doctoral internships included Toronto East General Hospital (Day Treatment Program), the Hincks Delcrest Treatment Center (for Children and Adolescents), and the Psycho-Educational (Counselling) Clinic at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Duma has worked as a therapist at the Addiction Research Foundation in Toronto, and has a number of years of experience working in private practice, as well as with Family Employee Assistance Programs.
She actively participates in regular, ongoing professional development.

Clinical Areas of Practice

Dr. Duma works with adults as well as adolescents and children. She has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of clinical issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship/interpersonal issues, grief/bereavement, history of abuse, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, and addictions.
She prefers to work using an encompassing approach that is sensitive to the particular concerns of the client, offering both in-depth and short-term therapy.
Her theoretical orientation is primarily psychodynamic, though she draws on psychoanalytic and attachment theory, as well as family systems.
Her approach also utilizes a number of treatment techniques from other modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral and emotion-focus therapy, depending on the client's needs.

Fees: $160.00/hour
Fees are in accordance with the recommended rate set by the British Columbia Psychological Association (2008). Psychological services are usually eligible for coverage, in whole or part, by Extended Health Plans. Other possible sources of funding for such services include employee assistance plans and criminal injury compensation. Psychological services can also be claimed as a health care expense on your income tax. Payment is by cash or cheque.
