Registered Psychologist working with Children, Adolescents, Families

My Practice

I have a small private practice in North Vancouver, which I began in September, 2000. Prior to that, I worked as a Psychologist in Ontario, from 1994-1999. My current practice focuses on:

Psycho-educational assessments for children, adolescents, and young adults: Assessments of cognitive, academic, emotional and/or behavioural functioning are helpful in clarifying issues such as school problems, learning disabilities, memory problems, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), giftedness, developmental delays, and intellectual disabilities.

Occasionally, I am able to offer psychotherapy and supportive counselling for child and family clients.

I strive to provide a warm, friendly, and helpful environment. My therapy approach is goal-directed and draws upon cognitive-behavioural techniques. I have a background in psychological research and prefer to utilize research-proven methods. I seek out educational opportunities to add to my knowledge base and keep myself up-to-date.

    General Information

Location: My office is located at Lonsdale and 12th in North Vancouver, on bus routes and with ample street or onsite pay parking.

Appointment Times: I work Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 9:30 am to 5 pm. There may be a waitlist for psycho-educational assessments.

Fees: The hourly fee is $160. Fees are in accordance with recommendations made by the B.C. Psychological Association. I am able to negotiate sliding-scale fees where appropriate. Many individuals have coverage for psychological services under their private health insurance plans. Fees not covered by insurance are tax deductible as a medical expense. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, or credit card.

Psycho-educational Assessments: Assessments are completed through a process involving interviews, face-to-face testing, take-home questionnaires, scoring of test responses, personal feedback, school liaison, and provision of a lengthy written report. A flat rate fee is agreed upon before beginning the assessment, based on my hourly rate, and typical time of completion of 8-13 hours, depending on age/grade level. The rate may vary for assessment questions which are more straightforward, or more complex than is typical. Please call for more information. On occasion, an abbreviated, or 'screening' assessment will meet a client's needs.

Confidentiality: For assessments and psychotherapy, confidentiality is strictly upheld. Information may be released to other professionals only with your written consent. More details regarding confidentiality and its limits will be available to clients when they read and sign a consent form at their first session.
