To become an Academic Affiliate of the BC Psychological Association, you must hold a doctoral degree in psychology and an academic appointment at a CPA-accredited or APA- accredited university in British Columbia. Please keep in mind that affiliate status with BCPA confers no capacity to refer to yourself as a psychologist.
Benefits & Services
For an overview of affiliation benefits, please out our outline of benefits. You can also refer to the links below for detailed information:
BCPA affiliation does not follow the calendar year; instead, your affiliation goes from September 1st of one year to August 31st of the next one. For example, if you join BCPA as an Academic Affiliate on August 30, 2009, you will be an affiliate of the Association from September 1, 2009 to August 31, 2010. If this sounds a little confusing, do not worry – we will mail out renewal forms and information well in advance of the end of the affiliation year, and you will be reminded of all deadlines at that time.
The easiest way to renew is, of course, through your online dashboard, which you can access after logging in by going under myBCPA.
