What happens in a counselling session?
Counselling offers a safe place to tell your story and have someone offer a perspective that may assist you in moving forward.
The counselling experience is unique for each individual.
One can’t predict the exact result of a session but most people report that the experience was helpful and supportive.
Privacy and confidentiality are of utmost importance and are strictly respected.
Talking with a psychologist can help you explore solutions to difficult issues or life situations.
Psychologists are trained to be “one step removed” from your situation which can help you see the “big picture,” gain greater understanding and insight and develop an action plan.
Many people seek counselling during various times in their lives.
Life changes and challenges are ongoing and may be managed more effectively with counselling support.
Costs and Health Plan Coverage
Clients are expected to pay at each session by cheque, cash or interac e-transfer and a receipt will be issued.
Most Extended Health Care plans cover some of the costs of counselling. Contact your employer for details of your coverage.
Fees paid to a registered psychologist can be claimed as a non-refundable tax credit.
