Hello! My name is Dr. Lisa Van Bruggen. I am a registered clinical psychologist (#1944) in Victoria, British Columbia. I have worked with children, youth, and their families for over 12 years.

My goal is to provide comprehensive assessments, therapeutic interventions, and parenting supports to help nurture children's strengths and support areas of challenge. I believe that a better understanding of children will help them thrive at home, at school and in life. I bring to my work an understanding of typical childhood development and the important role of attachment and connection.
I provide 1) Psycho-Educational and Psychological assessments for children and youth ages 5 years to around age 25 years; 2) Therapy for children and youth up to age 19 years; 3) Parenting supports, and 4) Consulting to schools and organizations around mental health and learning challenges.
My preference is to involve parents/caregivers as needed to promote social, emotional, and behavioural adjustment. My expertise in trauma guides my approach to how best to support children who have experienced adversity.
I strive to create a safe and positive space that is welcoming for everyone, regardless of gender, race, or orientation. I acknowledge with respect the Lək̓ʷəŋən People on whose traditional territory my workplace is located and the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.
