I am a Registered Psychologist (CPBC #1462) with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I work with adults.
My strengths are in engaging clients in a respectful and warm therapeutic relationship. I enjoy opportunities to work with clients on issues and struggles and encouraging clients on their journey towards greater emotional health and well being.
I am experienced in helping people with a variety of life issues, including daily life stressors, depression, anxiety and panic, trauma, illness, grief and loss, marital and relationship issues.
Common Themes Discussed in Therapy
What are the key issues affecting your well-being right now?
Slow down, listen, bring awareness to your thoughts, feelings, and what is happening inside of you. What do you do with them?
How do your thoughts and beliefs affect your mood, your reactions, and how you feel about yourself, your circumstances, and others?
Are you ready and willing to learn and practice safe, effective coping strategies to help you feel better when you are upset.
Develop a healthy respect and compassion for yourself.
Move forward, practice healthy life changes with support and encouragement from a psychologist.
Use your newly learned skills to develop a sense of well being, resilience and hope for the future.
Common Concerns About Seeing a Psychologist
SHOULDN'T I BE ABLE TO HANDLE MY PROBLEMS ON MY OWN?
Life can be complicated. Many people benefit from sharing their struggles with someone trained and experienced at listening, who can offer new insights and perspectives and who can help with strategies for coping and managing life's challenges.
WILL THE PSYCHOLOGIST TELL ME WHAT TO DO? WILL I LOSE CONTROL?
Like a coach, a psychologist can help you define the problem, process experiences, consider your options, and practice changes. You choose what options fit for you, and how to apply these to your life.
WILL I BE A DIFFERENT PERSON AFTER THERAPY?
You remain the same person. Hopefully you will feel stronger and better able to deal with stressors and more equipped to make healthier choices and decisions.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR ME TO FEEL BETTER?
Every person and their situation is unique. In therapy, feeling better often starts with building trust in the therapeutic relationship. Here, confidence can grow, issues are worked on, and individuals are empowered to handle life's challenges and make needed life changes.
WHAT ARE MY GUARANTEES?
There are no guarantees in therapy. Sometimes difficult feelings are stirred up and take time to process. Sometimes, feeling better is right around the corner. Sometimes, feeling better takes time, patience, and perseverance. Every person is an individual and each journey is different. A psychologist can be a support and coach in this process.
