Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a profession grounded in the science of learning and behavior. Behavior analysts offer their expertise across various subspecialty areas, such as supporting neurodivergent individuals, individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral pediatrics, gerontology, self-injury, sports, organizational behavior management, and brain injury rehabilitation. This presentation aims to shed light on the collaborative care provided by both psychologists and behavior analysts to clients. It will explore the dynamics of team-based care for individuals receiving services from both professionals.

The presenter's bio: 

Dr. Hayley Neimy received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of British Columbia in 2011 and worked as a Behavior Technician on home-based applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapeutic teams serving young neurodiverse children and as a Special Education Assistant for the West Vancouver School District. She then relocated to Los Angeles, CA, to gain extensive clinical and research experience in the assessment and treatment of severe problem behavior at the Shabani Institute, Center for Behavior Analysis, with Dr. Daniel Shabani, where she worked as an Assistant Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Director, to then the Executive Clinical Director, over a decade. During this time, Dr. Neimy completed her M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis (Honors) from California State University, Northridge, in 2015 and her Ph.D. in Applied Behavior Analysis at Endicott College in 2020, receiving her BCBA in 2015 and BCBA-D in 2020. Dr. Neimy is a published author and researcher and has presented her clinical work regionally, nationally, and internationally at over three dozen conferences in her areas of expertise, which include: the assessment and treatment of severe problem behavior, early interventions for neurodiverse and at-risk infants, early intensive behavior interventions (EIBI), verbal behavior, functional communication training (FCT), and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), organizational therapeutic delivery models, and staff supervision and training. Dr. Neimy is also an Adjunct Professor for the online Masters of ABA programs at Endicott College and Pepperdine University. Locally, Dr. Neimy is the Clinical Director at Hollyburn Family Services – a multi-faceted behavioral and trauma-informed treatment services center offering intensive therapeutic care homes, respite support, home-share, counseling, rehabilitation, and community integration programs for youth and adults with developmental disabilities, mental health disorders, complex trauma, and substance use. Lastly, Dr. Neimy serves as the President-Elect on the board of directors of the British Columbia Association for Behaviour Analysis (BC-ABA), playing a critical role in local, provincial, and national efforts focused on the regulation of behaviour analysis, equitable therapeutic service provision, and the training, supervision, and support of present and future practitioners.
